Imelda I Am

In case any of you are wondering what I've been up to in the 2+ months since I last blogged, today I received 12 pairs of shoes that I ordered online, and I have four more pairs on the way. If I'm lucky, I will actually end up with three pairs that fit well enough and are cute and comfortable enough to keep.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love zappos.com? Express delivery (I often get my orders in less than 24 hours) and free shipping both ways mean that I can order from them like I shop in a shoe store: I order multiple sizes and styles of the same type of shoe, try them all, and then ship back whatever doesn't work. Woo hoo!

Is it safe to say that my American consumerism gene has been fully reactivated?

But more importantly, am I a person who can wear silver lamé sneakers? For some reason, when I ordered them, I thought that by "silver", they meant "pale gray", and normally, I wouldn't even consider something this blingy. But they're right here, and they're so comfy . .

Whad'ya think?

UPDATE: There is indeed more glitter involved than Zappos let on. Here's my own photo, which will give you a better idea of why I'm hesitating:

Huh. You are totally an American again, now, btw. Totally, completely, unapologetically. I assume you're buying an SUV.

Yes to the sneakers. They're adorable. (Though it's ironic that my word verification for this comment is "hating").

They look very cool from the photo, tho I can imagine there may be more 'glitter' than is evident here. Hey, it's only money.

Re: the mass returnings
You have become my aunt LeAnn, a woman who excels at the power return and yet owns so much (I'm being nice here) stuff that my cousin Katie has threatened to someday open a store called "My Mother's Sh**"

(FYI: My mother doesn't pick up the phone when her sister calls. But I will still pick up the phone if you call, as long as it isn't the third call in three days to see if I've done something I said I would do, which has been done. For example, putting flowers on the family grave plot.)

Maybe you should offer your services to Zappos as a photographer. Theirs sucks at conveying what the shoe actually looks like, kind of a problem for a web site selling shoes "sight unseen".
BTW, I had not visited your blog for a long time and felt bad. Turns out I had not missed anything. Quel flair d'être revenue aujourd'hui!

I bought two pairs of summer shoes yesterday and thought of you. If my sister, the shoe goddess, doesn't like them, I'll consider bringing them back and think of you again. But I'm probably too lazy to make the return. I applaud your non-laziness in this area.
